Waney Edge Cladding
About Waney Edge Cladding
Our waney edge or ‘live edge’ cladding creates a visually stunning and unique finish and gives the impression that slices of the tree have been overlapped. As with all our timber it is cut at our sawmill in Dorset.
Produced from English grown Western Red Cedar, Larch and Douglas fir. Our freshly sawn waney edge cladding has one waney or ‘live’ edge and one straight cut edge to help with installation. Waney edge cladding is traditionally used horizontally for a wide range of applications particularly barn conversions and listed buildings, ours has even been used to clad shop fronts where a rustic, bespoke look was required.
Larch and Cedar cladding can be left to silver naturally with age.
Douglas fir, Larch and Cedar cladding can also be painted or stained to produce a more durable external cladding, treated with UV oil to enhance the natural colour of the timber or treated with fire retardants to comply with any necessary building regulations.
When installing we recommend a minimum 50mm overlap and the use of stainless steel fixings.
